Paddle Steam Ship 'Waverley'
Steam in the Scottish Highlands
This is a new page we have put in for the steam enthusiasts. We will give out information as we get it.
There are a lot of steam activities in the Highlands, so it should be a good site for all interested in steam.
Visit the West Coast Railways website for more information.
All the photos you will see on this site are taken by us and are in the Highlands.
2010 was a wonderful year for steam enthusiasts.
The ‘Oliver Cromwell was to come to town. This was such good news because never has such a large engine as a Britannia 4-6-2 come though Roy Bridge on it’s way to Fort William.
We are quite used to seeing the ‘Black 5’s and that size of engine, but as for the Britannia that is in another class. The date that it is to come past Kinchellie is 24 &25 April.
The Steam Ship Waverley, the last steam paddle ship in the world, comes to the Highlands every year.
One can board her at Fort William and have a truly wonderful day travelling to many places on the West Highland coast. The engine room is a must for the mechanically minded. The well equipped galley serves up great food, hot and cold.
